Simple and Lofty Business Goals...

My cousin’s new company, Normative, has the stated goal:

“To make life more enjoyable through music.”

This follows a very new trend of successful companies selecting simple but profound mission statements.

Think of Google’s famous mission statement that I will not repeat, but nonethless rhymes with these words which I have uttered to many important people’s personal assistants:

“Won’t See Me? Bull!”

Anyhow, I digress. The point of this post is that I am a loner insofar as I do not support the simple, elegant, lofty mission statement. I think that companies should first aim to really improve a small facet of our lives, and then if they are successful, they should expand their mission statement.

So what if Normative’s mission statement were:

“To provide excellent tools to excellent musicians who have crappy business connections…”

Or something like that only better…
